Final Auction Numbers & Pictures!

Last year, the 9th Annual Benefit Auction happened less than a month after Tropical Storm Irene brought devastating effects to Vermont.  The Auction Committee had a brief meeting to decide whether to continue on with the auction.  We decided to give it a try… the auction raised $31,869 (gross) in 2011.  That was an amazing for the camp auction!  The highest auction number before 2011 was in the mid $20K.

I think auction success in 2011 owes thanks to a gift certificate program to help local business, stirred emotions from things like power outages and road closures and a lot of generous people.

To what does the auction owe it’s success this year?  Over $33,000 was raised (gross) – $33, 538 in fact!  If you were at the auction or inspired by it in any way and have some insight on how this year’s auction raised even more money than last year leave a comment, please.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to all those who gave generously to support the mission of Bethany Birches Camp and help subsidize camp programs so any camper can come regardless of financial reality!

Auction Item Prices

I love the Annual Benefit Auction!  Thanks to Phil, Billy and Mary,  (Lapp, Sneed & Moyer) we had about 370 doughnuts available at no charge.  There were something like 30 left at the end of the day.  There were about 120 there.  Do the math. Almost 3 doughnuts per person!

There will be more to say about it, but right now, I just wanted to highlight an interesting document – the lot list with prices.  It’s astounding.  When I read through this I think – WHOA – what a faithful group of supporters!

Here’s to all of you that help make the camp happen  😀

Online Bidding Almost Closed

The annual Benefit Auction happens tomorrow! IF you can’t make it, get your online bid in by 7pm tonight!  That’s the last chance – after that, it’s closed down so we can take the bids with us to the auction and bid on your behalf.

For those of you that are coming, or could come, here’s what you can look forward to:

World-change.  Seriously. Supporting the auction is supporting a program that is doing it’s best to change the world by helping young people develop a relationship with the only World-Changer there is – God!

Other reasons to come if world-change isn’t enough:
. Fresh-squeezed cider
. Free lunch
. Chance to win a Jeep
. Home-made doughnuts and potato chips
. Bid while facing an incredible view complete with colorful leaves

Each year, the BBC Annual Benefit Auction helps pay for lots of kids to get to camp. All Proceeds go to help kids who can’t pay, get here.  World change or not, that’s pretty cool.

Details here.

See you tomorrow at 9!

Email about Free Camps – Discounts

About a week ago I sent an email to many camper families.  It was all about Free Camps (there’s still two more to happen this coming Sunday)!  I thought I’d post the email series here for anyone who missed the info… here’s the second one:

——————————————-

To the parents of Camper:

Greetings again!

I didn’t mention it in my last email, but there are lots of ways to save oncamp.  We make it so because one of our mission priorities is to makecamp super affordable!  One way to save is by coming to the upcomingFree Camps.  In short, we’re giving a $100 voucher at each Free Campevent (so 3 in total).  Each person that comes will get one ticket to be entered in the drawing.  The drawing will be done at the event. If you win, summer camp costs $100 less for you this year!

Also, you can save by bringing never-ever’s to the party with you.  Never-ever’s are campers that haven’t been to a BBC program before.  You’ll receive a $7 discount for each never-ever you bring with you that is camp-age (between 6-17).

Additional details on the discounts being offered through Free Camp here –www.bethanybirches.org/freecamp

A few other ways to save on camp this summer:

Free Camp!

What could be better than a week at Bethany Birches Camp this summer you ask? I say Free Camp!

No, this isn’t a chance to get a week of camp free, it’s a chance to get a few hours of camp free. Although, you can get $100 off your upcoming camp session this summer + multiples of $7 on top of that (see below).

Here’s the deal: For a few hours we’ll bring some of our staff to a town near you and do camp (if you live in VT or NH that is). We will:

  • Get messy (if you want) at our pig trough.
  • Play Full Contact Playdough Pictionary or Mission Impossible or Smugglers.
  • Watch video from last summer.
  • Hear stories of summer camp.
  • Eat snacks if the pig trough wasn’t enough.

Get Camp Cheap:

  1. GET $100 OFF SUMMER 2012 – Each eligible camper* that attends will be entered in a drawing to win a $100 gift certificate good for BBC Summer 2012 program. One certificate will be given at the event.
  2. Any returning camper will be given a $7 discount for summer 2012 for EACH eligible never-ever** they bring along!

*will be in the age range 5-18 yrs. old this summer.
**never-ever camper is someone who’s never been to BBC for any program

No need to sign up, just show up! We’ll have info and forms on summer camp at the party as well.
