Voyager 2011, Who is Jesus to You?

During shelter chats on the last day I went around to several different groups and asked this question. I started by asking the counselor so that the campers could begin thinking in the right direction, but also to make it more of a discussion and a way for them to learn. Both the camper’s and the counselor’s answers were inspiring to my own thoughts about who Jesus is. Each thing that was mentioned was very different; just as we each have a unique relationship with Jesus, no one spoke of Him the same.  The song I chose to play for the background music is called “Love is Here” and the lyrics say:

Come to the waters, you who thirst and you’ll thirst no more.
Come to the Father, you who work and you’ll work no more.
And all you who labor in vain and to the broken and shamed:

Love is here.
Love is now.
Love is pouring from
His hands, from His brows.
Love is near, it satisfies.
Streams of mercy flowing from His side.

It wasn’t until I had nearly completed this clip that I came across the interview with the two girls at the end where she says, “[he is the one] who died on the cross for us.”  I realized no one else had clearly stated perhaps the most obvious and most significant aspect of who Jesus is- he is the one who sacrificed everything for us, to the point of death, so that we could know His love here and now.
